![]() In the infinite worlds of the Java and Bedrock Editions, the Nether is also horizontally infinite. If cheats are enabled, players can also teleport to the Nether without using a nether portal: the syntax is / execute in the_nether in Java Edition, and / execute in nether in Bedrock Edition.īedrock comprises the top (including and below layer 127) and bottom 4 layers in a rough pattern, essentially making the Nether 128 blocks high unlike the Overworld's 384. When done, the Nether has the same 256×256 borders as the Overworld, and if a nether portal is then made in the Nether, it can spawn the player outside the world barrier. The portal block must be placed using cheats. ![]() In the former Old world type, it is impossible to construct a nether portal. Any of the blocks in the corners can be destroyed without destroying the portal. The portal can be destroyed by breaking the obsidian frame, by a nearby explosion, or by placing water in the Overworld or lava into it with a bucket or dispenser. If there is no corresponding portal, a new 4×5 portal is created. The portal plays a sound effect while the player is inside it. The player can step out of a portal before it completes its animation to abort the teleport. In Survival, the player must stand in a nether portal for 4 seconds to get to the Nether. The portal allows most entities (with the exception of the wither, the ender dragon, and entities riding or being ridden by another entity) to be transported to a corresponding portal in the Nether. This can be accomplished using various ignition methods such as flint and steel, fire charge, dispensers, or any substance capable of setting fire ablaze. Once the frame has been properly constructed, it can be activated by introducing fire into the frame. The frame's dimensions can vary, with the smallest permissible size being 4 blocks × 5 blocks, and the largest being 23 blocks × 23 blocks. To assemble the portal, the player's initial task involves building a rectangular frame using blocks of obsidian. It's important to note that portals created in the End will not function for this purpose. In order to enter the Nether dimension, a player needs to construct a nether portal within the confines of the Overworld. To avoid this, you will only need to build your portal in the nether at least Y = 60 and this will assure you that you will be on land where you can see the skies."Economy" portal without corners (left), full portal (right) Since the Caves and Cliffs update in Minecraft, new underground biomes can be a problem when trying to build a new portal from the Nether. As long as the X and Z axis are aligned, your portal will link properly. The Y axis usually does not matter, but to be completely safe, it’s always better to link the portals in a spot where it is safe to spawn. Does your Y axis matter in calculating Nether Distance? To fix this, you must have your portals with the exact same number of obsidian blocks, placed accurately on the Nether’s coordinates to the coordinates of your Overworld portal that’s divided by eight. Because of the portal’s spawning mechanics, building larger portals may teleport you into a nearby but different location, duplicating your portals and essentially breaking your portal links. Check out how to make a Nether Portal or how to make them with water and lava. It is always ideal to build the Nether portals in a two-by-three blocks standard. The size of the portal matters if we want to accurately calculate where we will spawn in both the Nether and the Overworld.
